A few months ago, I started to notice that the Daily Flip challenge was circulating online. For those who don't know, the challenge involves posting a flip in your Instagram story every day, and you can also tag friends.
I know a few flips, but as someone who prefers clean parkour, it's never been my main strength.
Maybe that's why I decided to go for it.
Flipping every day, without breaks and without rest.
So what happened to my body during these 100 days? And should you take on the daily jumping challenge? scroll to continue reading or watch the video (Hebrew)
My Technique and Confidence Have Improved
The first and perhaps most obvious thing I noticed during the challenge was that my technique and confidence in doing flips got way better.
Flips I used to only do on the mat, I was now doing outside, and the ones I did outside got more height, letting me play me them more.
What really boosted my technique were the focused training sessions on specific flips, where I dedicated time to mastering each movement and understanding the mechanics behind them.
However, my confidence? That came from just going for a daily flip, not from flip training. It was the act of repeatedly attempting flips in various contexts and environments that truly built my self-assurance. Each day, I would challenge myself to perform flips in different settings, whether it was at the gym, in a park, or even on a beach.

This consistent practice in real-world situations forced me to confront my fears and push my limits. With every successful flip, my confidence grew exponentially, as I learned to trust my instincts and abilities.
By mixing focused training sessions for part of the week with doing flips on my rest days, I managed to improve both my technique and confidence without wearing myself out.
But what really surprised me was the next benefit!
I Lost Weight!
This was totally unintentional but since the beginning of the challenge, I've lost approximately 4 kilos of bodyweight.
It's quite surprising to me, considering that I didn't set out with a specific goal of weight loss in mind. Instead, my focus was primarily on participating in the challenge and improving my overall fitness levels. The journey has been enlightening, and the changes I've noticed in my body are both encouraging and motivating.
I'm betting that the reason for this unexpected weight loss is that the challenge requires you to engage in a little warm-up and partake in a bit of extra physical activity every single day. This daily commitment, although it may seem small at first, has a cumulative effect that contributes significantly to my overall energy expenditure. The warm-up routines, which include stretching and light aerobic exercises, help to prepare my body for the more intense activities that follow, enhancing my performance and reducing the risk of injury.

Basically, the challenge necessitates that I burn a little more calories each day, regardless of my existing routine. This incremental increase in physical activity, when combined with my usual daily habits, creates a slight caloric deficit. Over time, this deficit has led to the weight loss I've experienced.
It's fascinating to observe how these small daily changes can add up to significant results over the course of several weeks. Each workout, no matter how brief, contributes to a larger picture of improved health and fitness, and it has been rewarding to see tangible outcomes from my efforts.
And speaking of the benefits of small daily changes - the next one really made me go through the roof!
My Flexibility Improved
If you hate stretching, you will love this!
My flexibility has improved thanks to the challenge, and the explanation is very simple.
Part of the challenge for me was learning new flips and doing focused flip training. These workouts required my body to work on ranges that I usually don’t touch, such as the leg lift in the Webster, or deep tucks in stationary flips.
When we perform a movement many times and reach the end of our range of motion, our flexibility improves.
If we take the Webster as an example, the Webster involves a leg lift backward. So what’s the difference between practicing 10 backward kicks and practicing 10 Websters? Websters are just more fun :)
Learning New Flips
I think this is one of the most amazing effects of this challenge.
By doing just a few flips every day, I managed to learn new flips much more easily and quickly.
The fact that your body is flipping in the air daily greatly enhances body awareness without tiring the body with a full workout.
Thanks to the improvement in my body awareness, I was able to approach new flips with more confidence and movement understanding, allowing me to learn them faster.
Over the course of just 100 days, I learned 4 new flips! Imagine learning a new trick every 3 weeks just by practicing a about 15-25 minutes every day!
And this is still not all!
My Overall Feeling in Daily Life Has Improved
This may sound philosophical or cliche, but there is something very rewarding about taking on a challenge and sticking to it day after day. The essence of personal growth often lies in our ability to confront difficulties head-on and persist through them, even when the going gets tough.
Each day that we commit to our goals, we not only test our limits but also expand them, discovering strengths we may not have known we possessed. This consistent effort can lead to a profound sense of accomplishment, reinforcing our belief in our capabilities and fostering resilience.
Especially when friends are involved, and you share each other's results together. Engaging in a challenge alongside friends enhances the experience significantly. The shared journey creates a support system where encouragement flows freely, and accountability becomes a natural part of the process. It transforms what could be a solitary endeavor into a collective adventure.
This daily activity boosts my self-esteem and confidence, encouraging a proactive mindset and pushing me outside my comfort zone. Witnessing my progress enhances my mental well-being and enriches my life, as overcoming obstacles leads to a positive outlook and personal fulfillment.
